Build a Functioning Heart Model
Build a functioning heart model with blood circulation, using household items!
model, anatomy, homemade
The heart is made up of four chambers. The two upper chambers are known as the atrium and the two lower chambers are known as the ventricle. Your heart uses valves to control the flow of blood. In this activity, the bottle with a cap and one straw end in it represents the atrium. The middle bottle, with two straw ends in it, represents the ventricle. The last bottle, with no cap and one straw end in it, represents the body. The straws represent the valves. By pinching the straws connecting the atrium and ventricle and then squeezing the ventricle, you are controlling the pumping of blood from the chambers to the body!
